Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable has explained his side of the story following a viral video showing him in a heated confrontation at Port Harcourt International Airport.
Gatekeepers News reports that in the video, the singer was seen leaping from a car and shouting angrily as airport security officers rushed in to calm the situation.
Reacting in an Instagram post, Portable claimed he was attacked by a group of airport taxi drivers, insisting he only acted in self-defense.
He said, “I wasn’t fighting; I was attacked, and I had to defend myself. I’m a soldier without a barrack, a police officer without an ID card.”
Portable explained that the altercation began when he declined offers from some taxi drivers while waiting for a ride arranged by the organisers of his event in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the drivers began insulting and recording him, accusing him of being stingy and refusing to give them money.
He said, “When I got to Port Harcourt, I was waiting for my official car when some taxi drivers started abusing me. They said I wouldn’t give them money and kept recording me. I got angry because they were disturbing me for no reason.”
The singer called on authorities to address the harassment of celebrities by airport taxi operators, saying such behaviour disrupts peace and security at airports.
