Governments of Ogun and Lagos States have commenced investigations into a road traffic accident involving British-Nigerian boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Gatekeepers News reports that on Monday, the vehicle conveying Joshua and three other persons collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the death of two occupants.
Following the crash, Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos. Medical assessments conducted by doctors confirmed that both survivors are stable and do not require emergency medical intervention.
”A comprehensive medical team has since been convened and will continue to monitor them closely. Anthony Joshua has since been relating well with his family,” the Governments said in the joint statement signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information to the Ogun State Government, and Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for Information, Lagos State.
Authorities disclosed that investigations have been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The Ogun and Lagos state governments expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash and assured the public that the injured persons would receive the best possible medical care.
They also appealed for privacy for Joshua and his family as investigations and medical monitoring continue.
