Ngozi Odu, the deputy Governor of Rivers State, has left Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gatekeepers News reports that Odu completed her registration into APC at her ward in Akabuka town, Ward 8, Unit 11, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA.

After registering, she openly identified with the party by singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a chant closely linked with President Bola Tinubu.

Her move comes shortly after Governor Siminalayi Fubara also defected to the APC, following his visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Fubara was later formally registered into the party by Tony Okocha, the APC chairman in Rivers State, who said the action was based on instructions from the party’s national leadership.

The defection of both top officials marks a major political shift in Rivers State, long considered a stronghold of the PDP.

The APC’s national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has since declared Fubara as the leader of the party in the state, a move seen as part of efforts to consolidate control ahead of future elections.
