Uba Sani Explains Kaduna’s Support For Tinubu’s Re-Election

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has said the state will stand behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing ongoing development efforts at both state and federal levels.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor spoke on Sunday during a stakeholders’ meeting on the electronic registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the president has delivered dividends of democracy to Kaduna and the country, thereby strengthening public support for the ruling party.

Addressing party stakeholders in zone 2, Sani said Kaduna is aiming to register 2.5 million members in the ongoing exercise. He added that the APC has grown into the leading political party in the state.

He explained that the spread of projects across all parts of Kaduna by his administration, combined with interventions from the federal government under Tinubu, has encouraged many opposition members to defect to the APC.

The Governor said the president approved N1 billion in support of the Kaduna State light rail project, describing it as the first of its kind in northern Nigeria. According to him, no other state apart from Lagos has received similar federal backing for a light rail initiative.

“Only three weeks ago, I was in China, in the company of the director-general of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, at the instance of President Bola Tinubu, who has also decided that Kaduna State would be the pilot state to embark on a major poultry project,” Sani said.

“The project will generate at least 350,000 jobs. Already, the federal government has approved $200 million for it and Kaduna State will have the biggest poultry project in sub-Saharan Africa, and the groundbreaking will be done in the next three weeks.”

He added that the project would also create support for about 10,000 small businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises linked to poultry farming.

Sani also thanked the president for approving the construction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari road and the rehabilitation of the Kwoi–Jema’a road, which he described as vital to the state’s development.

The Governor said additional projects were captured in the current budget through collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and the office of Tajuddeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, especially for zone 1.

He noted that the northern senatorial district has benefited more than other areas, adding that Abbas’s emergence as speaker has been a blessing to Kaduna.

He also praised the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, for attracting key projects to the state, particularly those under the ACRESAL programme.

“When you look at some of the major projects that we are embarking on under ACRESAL, addressing erosion and other climate issues, he has played a pivotal role in that regard,” the Governor said.

“In the next one or two months, we will be doing the groundbreaking for one of the major projects in Zaria and Rigasa, totaling about N53 billion, courtesy of the support and effort of the minister of environment.”

Sani said the combination of projects executed by his administration and those supported by Tinubu’s government would place Kaduna among the top-performing states in the APC e-registration drive.

He had earlier met with stakeholders from zone 2 on Saturday, covering Kaduna North and South, Chikun, Kajuru, Igabi, Birnin Gwari and Giwa local government areas. On Sunday, he also held meetings with stakeholders from zone 1, including Zaria, Sabon Gari, Soba, Makarfi, Kubau, Kudan, Ikara and Lere LGAs.

The Governor further engaged stakeholders from zone 3, the southern Kaduna senatorial district, comprising Zangon Kataf, Kachia, Jaba, Jema’a, Kaura, Kagarko and Sanga LGAs.
