Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has vowed to take firm action against a user on X who accused him of being involved in an alleged affair with actress BamBam, a claim that sparked widespread reactions online and fueled speculation about her marriage.
Gatekeepers News reports that the controversy began after BamBam and her husband, Teddy A, were noticed to have unfollowed each other on Instagram, triggering rumours of a possible marital crisis. Shortly after, an X user identified as Ahmgabriel1 made a post alleging that Teddy A had divorced BamBam after discovering she was pregnant for Arukwe.
In the viral post, the user claimed that the alleged discovery was made through a leaked private chat and went further to make sweeping remarks about women.
“Popular movie actress BamBam (Achalugo) has been reportedly divorced by her husband after finding out his wife was pregnant for her colleague who played the role of her odogwu in their recent movie,” the post reads.
“He got to find out through her leaked private chat with him. Hmmm it’s sad to say women are never to be trust worthy.”
The claim quickly gained traction on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans and followers. Arukwe and BamBam had recently appeared together as romantic leads in Omoni Oboli’s film Love In Every Word, where their on-screen chemistry earned them the popular nicknames Odogwu and Achalugo.
Responding to the allegation, Arukwe described the claim as false, damaging, and defamatory. In a statement shared on his X account, he said the individual responsible for the post would be held accountable as a warning to others who spread harmful rumours for attention and online engagement.
“A specific account has been identified to spread false rumors and baseless accusations about me and my professional engagement with another colleague in the industry,” he wrote.
“I choose not to quote the account directly, as I refuse to give such accounts the engagement they seek at the risk of jail time.
“Believe me when I say this: that individual will be made a scapegoat so others learn to respect boundaries and refrain from chasing clout and Elon Musk money at the expense of damaging someone else’s reputation.”
Arukwe’s response has since drawn support from fans and fellow industry figures, many of whom condemned the spread of unverified claims and called for greater responsibility in online conversations.
BamBam and Teddy A, whose real names are Bamike and Tope Adenibuyan, met during the 2018 edition of Big Brother Naija and later got married. They are widely regarded as one of the show’s most successful couples and have two children together.
As of the time of filing this report, neither BamBam nor Teddy A has issued any official statement addressing the rumours surrounding their marriage.
