Gunmen have abducted a senior cleric of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Plateau State, raising fresh concerns over insecurity in the region.

Gatekeepers News reports that the victim, identified as Rev. Sunday Agang, is a pastor and chairman of the church’s board of trustees. He was kidnapped from his residence in the Farin-Gada area of Jos North Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 2:24 pm when about six armed men stormed his home and forcefully took him away to an unknown destination.

Church authorities confirmed the abduction, expressing deep concern over what they described as a growing wave of attacks targeting clergy and members, particularly in Plateau and Kwara states.

In response, security agencies have launched a rescue operation, assuring the public that efforts are underway to track down the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the cleric. Investigations are also ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the attack.

The incident adds to a series of recent attacks involving church communities, including the abduction of worshippers in Kwara earlier in the week, highlighting the persistent security challenges facing parts of northern Nigeria.
