APC Fixes April 3 For Edo LG Primary Election

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has announced that its primary election to select candidates for local government chairmanship and councillorship positions will hold on April 3, 2026.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, the party said the exercise reflects its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and internal democracy.

To ensure credibility, the APC constituted three-member election committees across the 18 local government areas.

In Edo North, the committees include Aliu Fidelis (Akoko-Edo), Engr. Fredrick Unopah (Etsako East), Barr. Bayo Omo-Igie (Etsako Central), Zibiri Mohammed (Etsako West), Henry Irene (Owan West), and Barr. Stanley Amu (Owan East) as chairmen, alongside members Hilary Ozougo, Bose Kayode, Kadiri Desmond Anethua, Okpoga Hassan, Giwa Ibrahim, Emmanuel Ogwemoh, Abubakar S. Mohammad, Ikharo Nefisat, Muhammed Abdulganiyu, Hussien Mustapha, Stella Aghomon, and Lugard Alukpe.

In Edo South, Osamwonyi Atu (Oredo), Barr. Addeh Emankhu (Egor), Osarobo Idehen (Orhionmwon), Osazee Ojo (Ovia North East), Hon. Charity Amayanvbo (Ovia South West), Hon. Ogbejiele Fidelis (Ikpoba Okha), and Hon. Anslem Agbabi (Uhunmwode) will serve as chairmen. Other members include Daniel Ayegbeni, Ikponmwosa Bright, Barr. Ohiosuma Victor, Eriagbe Justice, Ogankpolor Jonah, Imanyebho John Inegbedion, Uhunamure Emmanuel, David Usifo, Godfrey Osayomo, Daniel Uwagboe, Jerrylove Omoroguiwa, Abu Momodu, Emmanuel Aiguobasimi, and Osayi Omoroguwa.

In Edo Central, Afuda Theophilous (Esan Central), Godswill Inegbe (Esan West), Abuya Christopher (Esan North East), Hon. Adima Anslem (Esan South East), and Hon. Monday Ehighialua (Igueben) are chairmen, with members including Darlington Ughe, Iriogbe Augustine, Francis Otoibhie, Enemiye Patrick, Amos Uwuidia, Farouk Ehimegbe, Hon. Okoudoh Patrick, Hon. Patrick Odin, Unuale Isesele, and Ebare Ambrose.

The party added that a central primary election committee has also been constituted, led by Mohammed Bello as chairman, with Hon. Sam Oboh, Hajia Maimuna Momodu, Mr. Benson Edosomwan, Barr. Peter Uwadiae, and Madam Betty Okoebor as members.

An appeal committee has also been set up to handle disputes, chaired by Barr. Stephen Okoror, with Barr. Martins Ighekpe as member and Emmanuel Tongo as secretary.

APC said the state secretariat will serve as the final collation centre for results across all local government areas, ensuring a transparent and coordinated process.
