Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State on Wednesday evening condoled the family of the late Ibrahim Mohamed Goronyo, an Aminiya correspondent with Aljazeera Newspaper in Sokoto, who passed away on Tuesday evening.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor described the death of the late Ibrahim as a great loss not only to his family but also to the journalism profession in the state.
He noted that the late Goronyo was an experienced and committed journalist who contributed significantly to the development of the state and the country at large through his writings, adding that his demise has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
Governor Aliyu prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The late Goronyo died at the age of 64 after a brief illness and is survived by a wife and five children.
The Governor also condoled the families of the late Alhaji Bala Aliyu Maisango Arkilla, the late Bashir Sarkin Hurumi, the late Hajiya Tuni, as well as other deceased persons.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive all the deceased, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort their bereaved families.
The Governor was accompanied on the condolence visit by the State APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya; the North-West Secretary of the APC, Isa Saddiq Achida, the House Leader, Bello Idris, the member representing Sabon Birni North Constituency, Aminu Almustafa Boza, as well as members of the State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and other political office holders.
