African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed a new venue for its national convention scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, in Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that the party announced that the convention will now take place at the Rainbow Event Centre after earlier facing difficulties securing a location.
The development follows earlier claims by the party that it was denied access to major venues, including Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. The ADC said it had written to the office of Nyesom Wike requesting approval to use Eagle Square but did not receive a response.
However, Wike dismissed the allegations, stating that no formal application had been submitted to his office and denying any deliberate attempt to block the opposition party.
Despite the controversy, ADC said the new venue offers a central and accessible location for delegates expected from across the country, ensuring the convention proceeds as planned.
The convention is coming amid internal leadership disputes and tensions with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has indicated it may not monitor the event due to ongoing legal issues affecting the party’s leadership structure.
