Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadan has denied allegations linking him to a supposed plan to impeach Seyi Makinde, describing the reports as false and misleading.

Gatekeepers News reports that in statement issued by his media aide, the monarch firmly rejected the claims, stressing that a traditional ruler has no constitutional authority to remove an elected governor from office. He stated that such allegations lack basic understanding of governance and should not be taken seriously.

Ladoja questioned the conflicting narratives circulating in the political space, noting that shortly before the allegation surfaced, there were claims that the Oyo State government was plotting to remove him as Olubadan. He described the situation as contradictory and misleading to the public.

The monarch also warned against dragging the Ibadan traditional institution into partisan politics, urging the public to disregard the rumours to avoid unnecessary tension in the state.

The controversy comes amid heightened political tension in Oyo State, with various actors making allegations and counter-allegations about impeachment plots and leadership disputes. However, both the palace and government officials have continued to deny any rift between the Olubadan and the governor.
