One Dead As Gunmen Open Fire On Travellers Along Ibadan–Ijebu Road

There was panic among commuters after suspected gunmen attacked travellers along the Ibadan–Ijebu road in Oyo State.

Gatekeepers News reports that the incident, which occurred over the weekend, involved armed men who reportedly ambushed vehicles on the highway, causing fear and confusion among road users.  

Oyo State Police Command confirmed the attack, with its spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, stating that one person lost their life during the incident.  

Police authorities, however, clarified that despite initial fears, no passengers were abducted, noting that it was an attempted kidnapping that did not succeed.  

Eyewitness accounts and visuals from the scene showed a vehicle riddled with bullets, highlighting the intensity of the attack.  

The development has raised fresh concerns over the safety of travellers on major highways, especially as similar attacks and kidnappings have been reported in other parts of the country in recent times.  

Security agencies said investigations are ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to track down those responsible and prevent further attacks on the route.
