Federal Government has instituted a 13-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against individuals accused of plotting to overthrow the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Gatekeepers News reports that the defendants reportedly include a retired major general, a retired naval captain, a serving police inspector, and several civilians alleged to have collaborated in the plot. They are facing serious allegations bordering on treason, terrorism, and attempts to wage war against the Nigerian state.
According to details surrounding the case, the charges stem from an investigation into an alleged coup plot uncovered in 2025, during which security agencies arrested multiple military officers across different ranks.
Findings from the probe indicated that some of the suspects were involved in secret meetings and coordinated efforts aimed at destabilising the government.
