The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the sale and registration of its 2026 Direct Entry (DE) application to May 8, 2026.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to the board, the extension is aimed at ensuring that no eligible candidate is excluded from accessing tertiary education opportunities across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, said the decision was taken to accommodate more applicants and improve access to registration centres nationwide.
“In furtherance of its objective of expanding access to tertiary education, the Board has extended the sale of Direct Entry application documents to 8th May 2026,” the statement read.
He added that five additional registration centres have been approved to ease congestion in high-demand locations.
The new centres include the Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL), University of Ilorin in Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota; Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre 1, Ago-Iwoye; Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Lagos, which will begin operations from April 30, 2026.
Benjamin also reminded candidates that all JAMB Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) and Professional Testing Centres (PTCs) across the country remain open for ongoing registration.
The board reiterated its commitment to expanding access and ensuring a smooth registration process for all prospective Direct Entry candidates.
