Committee of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria has extended warm congratulations to Professor Afekhide Earnest Omoti on his emergence as the President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
Gatekeepers News reports that Professor Omoti was elected on May 2, 2026, during the 66th Annual General Conference and Delegates Meeting (AGC/DM) held in Kano.
In a statement issued by the Committee and signed by the Chairman, Prof Saad Ahmed, the Secretary, Dr Pokop Bupwatda and the Public Relations Officer, Dr Philip Ugbodaga, the group described his election as a reflection of his distinguished career, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of the medical profession in Nigeria.
The Committee expressed confidence that his tenure would herald a new era of purposeful leadership, unity, and progressive reforms within the Association.
“As critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s healthcare system, we assure the new NMA leadership of our full support and readiness to collaborate closely in advancing the welfare, professional development, and working conditions of doctors across the country,” the statement read.
The Committee further pledged its commitment to working with the NMA under Professor Omoti’s leadership to promote policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening and sustaining healthcare delivery nationwide, in line with national priorities and global best practices.
The Committee wished the new NMA President a successful and impactful tenure while commending the Prof Bala Audu-led NOC for a successful ADM/GC and seamless transfer of power.
