Obasa Announces House Of Reps Ambition Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Gatekeepers News reports that Obasa made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Agege on Tuesday, where he said consultations with leaders and members of All Progressives Congress (APC) influenced his decision to join the race.

The longtime lawmaker, who has represented Agege Constituency I in the Lagos assembly since 2003, said party stakeholders encouraged him to seek federal representation for the constituency. He added that his decision was driven by a desire to continue serving the people of Agege at a higher legislative level.

Obasa also used the meeting to rally support for other APC aspirants in Agege. He endorsed former Agege Local Government chairman Ganiyu Egunjobi for the Agege Constituency I seat in the Lagos assembly and backed Azeez Ninolowo for Agege Constituency II.

The development comes amid growing political realignments within Lagos APC ahead of 2027 elections. Previous reports had suggested Obasa was considering a governorship or senatorial bid before eventually settling for the House of Representatives race.
