‘Campaign Of Desperation’ — Anambra Stakeholders Rally Behind Stella Oduah Over Allegations

A coalition of stakeholders within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) under the umbrella of Anambra North Stakeholders For Good Governance has dismissed recent allegations and petitions against former Minister of Aviation and ex-lawmaker, Stella Oduah, describing the development as a politically motivated campaign fueled by fear and desperation.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement jointly signed by Chief Akosa Umeano and Afam Chukwura on Wednesday, the group accused unnamed political actors of orchestrating a media campaign aimed at damaging the reputation and political standing of the former senator.

The stakeholders stated that contrary to claims circulating in some quarters, no court in Nigeria has ever found Senator Oduah guilty of any criminal offence.

They referenced the March 26, 2026 judgment delivered by Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, which, according to them, discharged and acquitted Senator Oduah after the Director of Public Prosecutions amended the charges and substituted two companies as defendants in the matter.

According to the group, the court proceedings did not establish any criminal liability against Senator Oduah personally.

“The recent attempt to portray Senator Stella Oduah as convicted is not only false but deliberately deceptive. The same judgment being referenced by her detractors ended with Senator Stella Oduah walking free, discharged and acquitted by a competent court of law,” the statement read.

The group also faulted claims suggesting that Senator Oduah personally entered a guilty plea in the matter, insisting that representatives of the affected companies entered the pleas on behalf of the firms involved.

Describing efforts to attach corporate liability to the former senator as “legally ignorant and politically mischievous,” the stakeholders warned against what they termed media trials and politically motivated blackmail.

On allegations relating to academic credentials and NYSC records, the group argued that Senator Oduah had successfully contested and served two terms as senator after undergoing multiple screenings by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and other constitutional bodies.

They maintained that no court had found her guilty of forgery, falsification, or perjury.

“Mere allegations, petitions, newspaper publications, and politically sponsored speculation do not amount to proof under Nigerian law,” the stakeholders stated.

The group further argued that the renewed allegations were resurfacing because Senator Oduah remained a major political force within Anambra North with significant grassroots support and electoral value.

According to the statement, “Those behind this campaign understand fully that Senator Stella Oduah remains one of the strongest political figures in the zone, with an unmatched grassroots structure, deep experience, and proven electoral value.”

The stakeholders subsequently called on the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, to ignore calls seeking the disqualification of Senator Oduah, insisting that the campaign against her was “dead on arrival.”

They also urged All Progressives Grand Alliance not to allow itself to be used as an instrument for political witch-hunts driven by desperation and propaganda.

The group insisted that APGA must continue to uphold justice, fairness, due process, and democratic principles rather than encourage what it described as politically motivated persecution.

The statement concluded by expressing confidence that the people of Anambra North could distinguish between genuine accountability and political intimidation.
