Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Kabiru Turaki has confirmed a political alliance with Allied Peoples Movement (APM), as opposition realignments intensify ahead of 2027 general elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to the faction, the move is part of broader efforts to build a united front among opposition parties following recent consultations and strategic meetings involving multiple political blocs.
Speaking on the development, the faction’s spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, said the alliance emerged from a wider opposition engagement held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He noted that more political partnerships are expected in the coming months as discussions continue among opposition groups.
“We’re in alliance with APM, says Turaki-led PDP”
Ememobong explained that the decision is only the beginning of wider cooperation efforts, stating:
“Many more alliances to come, but starting with this,” he said.
The alliance comes amid ongoing political restructuring within the opposition, with several parties exploring joint strategies, including the possibility of presenting a consensus presidential candidate in 2027.
Recent developments also show increasing defections and negotiations across party lines, as political actors position themselves ahead of the next election cycle.
The Turaki-led faction of the PDP has been involved in internal disputes over leadership, but has continued to pursue coalition-building efforts as part of its broader political strategy going forward.
