The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed that its presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections will take place on May 23, 2026, dismissing reports claiming the exercise had been postponed.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described reports circulating on social media and other communication platforms suggesting changes to the timetable as “false and misleading.”
The ruling party maintained that its schedule for the primaries remains unchanged.
According to the timetable released by the APC, the House of Representatives primary election will hold on May 15, 2026, while the Senate primary is fixed for May 18.
The State House of Assembly primary election is scheduled for May 20, followed by the governorship primary on May 21.
The party said the presidential primary election would take place on May 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, the APC had on Saturday commenced the screening of incumbent governors ahead of the 2027 polls.
Governors screened by the committee include Abba Yusuf, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Nasir Idris, Caleb Mutfwang, and Hyacinth Alia.
Others screened were Sheriff Oborevwori, Umar Bago, Dauda Lawal, Bassey Otu, and Ahmed Aliyu.
