All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified several loyalists of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from participating in the party’s Rivers State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that more than 60 aspirants believed to be aligned with the governor were screened out during the exercise conducted by the party’s screening committee.
Among those reportedly disqualified are Berebupakabo Isaac Sekibo, Tamunodiepriye Fubara Goodluck Ohaka, Tonye Garrick Tom-George, Prince Emukighro Fubara, and Tamunobaraiba George.
The affected aspirants were drawn from several local government areas and constituencies across the state, including Okrika, Khana, Omuma, Ahoada East, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Andoni, and Akuku-Toru.
The screening committee reportedly cited issues including incomplete documentation, irregular affidavits, and lack of evidence of valid party membership as reasons for the disqualifications.
The development is expected to heighten political tension within the Rivers APC as the struggle for control of the party structure continues ahead of the next general election.
