Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced another reduction in the ex-depot prices of petrol and diesel, a move aimed at easing costs for consumers and businesses across Nigeria.
Gatekeepers News reports that the company said the latest adjustment reflects its commitment to making refined petroleum products more affordable while supporting economic activities.
Under the new pricing structure, the refinery reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to ₦1,250 per litre from ₦1,275 per litre. The price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, was also cut to ₦1,700 per litre from ₦1,800 per litre.
In a statement, the refinery said, “The latest adjustment underscores its commitment to making refined petroleum products more affordable and supporting economic activities across the country.”
The company explained that the review is part of efforts to improve supply efficiency, strengthen domestic refining and reduce pressure on consumers and businesses that rely heavily on fuel for transportation, power generation and industrial operations.
It stated, “The price review comes amid the refinery’s continued efforts to improve supply efficiency, deepen domestic refining, and provide cost relief to consumers and businesses.”
Dangote Refinery also noted that the latest reduction aligns with its broader objective of ensuring a stable supply of refined petroleum products to the local market while helping to ease the cost burden on Nigerians.
Since commencing operations, the 650,000 barrels-per-day facility has increasingly supplied the domestic market as part of efforts to reduce dependence on imported fuel.
