NDP Picks Female – Ada Frederick As 2027 Presidential Candidate

National Democratic Party (NDP) has unveiled Ada Frederick as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, expressing confidence that the party can secure victory at the polls.

Gatekeepers News reports that the announcement was made on Monday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Emeka Wachuku, who said Frederick emerged as the party’s flagbearer through a consensus affirmation conducted across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Wachuku described the candidate as a grassroots politician with a strong commitment to national development, adding that her emergence reflects the party’s belief in the role of women and young people in leadership. He noted that Frederick previously founded the Ward2Ward support movement before establishing the NDP in 2026.

According to the party spokesman, Frederick also emerged as the NDP’s first national chairman during the party’s inaugural National Executive Council congress, an exercise reportedly monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Outlining the party’s agenda, Wachuku said the NDP plans to focus on infrastructure development, job creation, affordable healthcare, quality education and the local processing of Nigeria’s natural resources to boost industrial growth.

He added that the party intends to promote inclusive governance by creating more opportunities for women and youths in decision-making positions.

The party also declared its ambition to secure at least 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of Nigeria’s states through what it described as grassroots mobilisation, discipline and credibility.

In her acceptance speech, Frederick said Nigeria needs compassionate and people-focused leadership, stressing that women have a crucial role to play in the country’s future.

She pledged not to disappoint party members or Nigerians and promised to unveil the party’s full manifesto in the coming weeks. Frederick also called on women and youths across the country to support the party’s vision ahead of the 2027 elections.
