Multiple award-winning broadcaster Channels Television has been honoured with the Media Leadership Award at the 2026 Lagos Enterprise and Excellence Awards, adding another accolade to its growing list of achievements.
Gatekeepers News reports that organised by the Nigerian Achievers Awards Institute (NAAI), the awards recognise individuals and organisations whose outstanding contributions have significantly advanced the economic and social development of Lagos State.
Receiving the award on behalf of the management and staff of Channels Television, the station’s News Editor, Melinda Akinlami, expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the broadcaster’s commitment to excellence.
“On behalf of the management and staff of Channels Television, I would like to say a big thank you. We sincerely appreciate this award. It is a commitment to work harder for the good of everyone. Thank you so much, and God bless you,” she said.
President of the Nigerian Achievers Awards Institute (Global) and Convener of the Opportunity Conference Lagos, Afolabi Andu, said celebrating the accomplishments of Nigerians is essential to projecting the country’s positive image on the global stage.
“In the health sector, in infrastructure, and in the public sector, it’s just so important that we continue to project what incredible people are doing both here and globally,” Andu said.
He described Lagos as a city defined by resilience, innovation, commerce and immense potential, noting that the conference was designed to unlock opportunities capable of transforming key sectors of the state’s economy.
“Today, we convene not merely to discuss possibilities, but to unlock opportunities that will redefine economic growth, urban transformation, tourism, infrastructure, sustainability, technology, enterprise and investment across our great city.”
“Lagos remains a beacon of resilience, creativity, commerce and limitless potential in Africa, and this conference serves as a strategic platform to foster collaboration, inspire bold ideas and drive actionable solutions for inclusive prosperity,” he added.
Speaking on the significance of the awards, Andu described the recipients as ambassadors of the Nigerian brand, urging them to continue inspiring others through excellence and impactful contributions.
“I believe that the recipients are effectively ambassadors, so the honour should really be on them. The role they will play is to continue to project Nigeria in the most inspiring way and to continue to make an impact. For those who see such examples, they too will be inspired. So, they should be the representatives of that Nigerian brand,” he noted.
The event attracted policymakers, government officials, business leaders and members of the diplomatic community, providing a platform to celebrate excellence across various sectors.

The Lagos Enterprise and Excellence Awards honours outstanding public and private sector institutions that have demonstrated leadership, innovation, quality service delivery, economic impact and commitment to the development of Lagos State.
The awards recognise excellence across 10 categories, including arts, culture and the creative industries, community development, entrepreneurship, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, media and communications, public service and governance, real estate and urban development, security and safety, as well as a Special Recognition Award.
