Fresh Plateau Attack Leaves Six Dead – Several Others Injured

At least six people have been killed and several others injured after gunmen launched coordinated attacks on communities in the Plateau State local government areas of Riyom and Barkin Ladi, in the latest wave of violence to hit the state.  

Gatekeepers News reports that according to reports, the attackers stormed three communities and opened fire on residents, forcing many to flee for safety. Several victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals, while the death toll may rise as search efforts continue.  

The renewed assault has sparked fear among residents, many of whom said they have endured repeated attacks in recent months despite the presence of security personnel.

Community leaders and residents called on Federal Government and security agencies to take decisive action to end the recurring bloodshed in Plateau communities.  

Security operatives were reportedly deployed to the affected areas to restore calm and prevent further violence, while investigations are expected to commence to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
