FIFA To Award World Cup Winners Championship Rings

FIFA has announced that the winners of Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will receive custom championship rings for the first time in the tournament’s history, adding a new tradition to the iconic trophy and gold medals.

Gatekeepers News reports that the final, which will be attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, marks the debut of the American-style award at football’s biggest tournament.

Championship rings have long been a feature of major North American sports, particularly the NFL, where Super Bowl-winning players and staff receive commemorative rings.

FIFA said 30 bespoke rings will be produced for members of the victorious team. Immediately after the final, temporary rings will be presented to the winning captain and head coach, while the customised versions will be delivered later.

Each ring will feature a miniature FIFA World Cup trophy as part of its design, with the winning nation’s identity engraved into the band. FIFA is producing a total of 2,026 individually numbered rings in tribute to the 2026 tournament, with the remaining 1,996 made available for purchase by fans as limited-edition collectibles.

The introduction of championship rings reflects FIFA’s effort to incorporate elements of North American sporting culture into the expanded World Cup, which is being hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
