Department of State Services (DSS) has rescued Professor Samuel Okunsebor, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), days after he was abducted by gunmen in Nasarawa State.

Getekeepers News reports that Okunsebor was kidnapped around midnight on Wednesday when armed men attacked Mile Uku, a boundary community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas. Following an intelligence-led operation, DSS operatives located and rescued the professor at about 3 p.m. on Friday.

The security agency subsequently handed him over to his family in the presence of senior university officials, including the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kitso Ngbargu. He was later taken to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital for medical evaluation and routine checks.

University officials also confirmed that two suspects linked to the abduction have been arrested and are in DSS custody. They commended the agency for its swift intervention, expressing confidence that those behind the crime would be prosecuted.

The incident came weeks after three students of the Federal University of Lafia were abducted by gunmen near the institution’s temporary campus in Akunza, highlighting ongoing security concerns in parts of Nasarawa State.
