Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has said it will bring together regulators, auditors, corporate executives and technology experts to examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming audit integrity, corporate governance and financial reporting in Nigeria.
Gatekeepers News reports that the council announced that the discussions will take place during its 2026 Audit and Assurance Leadership Summit, scheduled for August 13 at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja. The summit is themed “Audit Integrity in the AI Era: Independence, Accountability and Reliable Financial Reporting.”
According to FRC, the event will provide a platform for stakeholders to assess the opportunities, risks and responsibilities associated with the growing adoption of AI in audit and assurance.
The council said participants will include regulators, audit professionals, corporate leaders, academics, investors, technology experts, policymakers and governance practitioners.
FRC said that as emerging technologies continue to reshape business operations and financial reporting, maintaining audit integrity, professional scepticism, auditor independence and stakeholder accountability has become increasingly important.
It added that the summit would feature keynote addresses by local and international experts, regulatory updates and discussions on AI, audit quality and professional ethics.
The council noted that attendees will also examine practical strategies for strengthening assurance processes, corporate governance and the reliability of financial reports, while the event will offer networking opportunities for regulators and other industry stakeholders.
It urged interested participants to register ahead of the summit, noting that attendance is mandatory for registered participants.
