All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have filed separate petitions challenging the re-election of Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the petitions were displayed on Monday at the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal secretariat in Osogbo, formally commencing the legal process over the outcome of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The APC petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. It lists Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as respondents.
The PDP petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola against Adeleke, INEC and Accord.
The secretary of the tribunal, Pefe Belemore, confirmed that the petitions had been filed. Their display on the tribunal’s notice board is expected to pave the way for the formal service of the petitions on the respondents and the commencement of further proceedings.
Adeleke, who contested the election under the Accord Party, was declared the winner after polling 511,067 votes. The filing of the petitions now places his re-election before the election tribunal for judicial determination.
