Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, permission to travel abroad for medical treatment while facing a certificate forgery case.
Gatekeepers News reports that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted the application on Monday and ordered the temporary release of Nnaji’s international passport, which he had surrendered to the court as part of his bail conditions.
Nnaji’s counsel, Ogwu Onoja, SAN, moved the application for permission to travel. Following the ruling, the court adjourned the case until October 26, 2026.
Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission is prosecuting Nnaji on a six-count charge involving alleged certificate forgery, false information, corruption and related offences.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges when he was arraigned on July 13.
ICPC alleged that Nnaji presented and used purportedly forged certificates, including an NYSC certificate and a University of Nigeria, Nsukka degree certificate, during the process of his ministerial appointment.
The commission also alleged that he received N29.58 million in salaries and allowances between August 2023 and October 2025 while serving as minister.
Nnaji has denied the allegations and maintained his not-guilty plea.
