Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Sunday expressed strong confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, will outperform him if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.
Gatekeepers News News reports that Zulum, who has continued to receive commendations from within and outside Borno State for the massive implementation of development projects over the past seven years, believes his achievements would be dwarfed by Gubio’s if he emerges as the next governor of the state.
Zulum said Gubio is well equipped with the relevant knowledge, experience and capacity to take the state to the next level of development, stressing that he is confident that the APC governorship candidate will build on the achievements of his administration and deliver even greater progress for the people.
This was disclosed when a mammoth crowd had gone to welcome the governor from his trip to United States of America (US) and Canada converged at the Government House Maiduguri.
According to the governor, who spoke in hausa language, the emergence of Gubio should be seen as the will of God (Allah), urging all stakeholders to close ranks and support him to emerge as the next governor in order to sustain the state’s development and achieve greater progress.
” Now that we’re enjoying relative peace, wherever I stopped, Engr Mustapha Gubio will take the baton and In sha Allah ( by the grace of God) he will do better than I have done” Zulum said .
Governor Zulum urged party supporters to work not only for the emergence of Gubio but also for the success of all APC candidates, from the President and senators to members of the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly.
Prof. Zulum maintained that Borno State remains an APC-controlled state and charged party faithful to embark on a vigorous campaign across the nooks and crannies of the state to mobilise support and ensure victory for the party in the 2027 general election.
The governor particularly called on party members to mobilise massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, saying that his continued administration at the federal level would attract more federal interventions to Borno State.
” We should understand that the peace we are enjoying today is a result of our collective resilience and the federal government’s support.
” Let us support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Our Gubernatorial candidate, Mustapha Gubio, and let us support all our National and State Assembly candidates,” Zulum stated, emphasising the need for a cohesive legislative arm that would work in harmony with the executive to deliver dividends of democracy to the grassroots
