All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially commenced its campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general election with a rally in Kaduna State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the rally, held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Kaduna Township Stadium, attracted Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the party’s National Working Committee, lawmakers and other party stakeholders.
Supporters from different parts of the country gathered at the venue to show their support for Tinubu as the ruling party began its nationwide campaign ahead of the presidential election.
Speaking at the event, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described Tinubu as a credible candidate, expressing confidence in the party’s chances in the forthcoming election.
“We are proud to present to Nigerians the most competent and credible candidate for the presidency. The APC is united, prepared and confident,” Yilwatda said.
He attributed political realignments involving members of the Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance and the Accord Party to growing support for Tinubu’s leadership.
Yilwatda also commended the president’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects, saying the party would campaign on the administration’s achievements, ongoing policies and plans for the future.
The APC chairman further presented party flags to seven governors from the North-West geopolitical zone seeking re-election. They are Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
Meanwhile, Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the APC presidential campaign council, assured Tinubu of support from northern Nigeria ahead of the election.
“Northern Nigeria is 100% yours, insha Allah. This is the promise that we make, and you are going to see it in January 2027,” Yari said.
He said the campaign would highlight the administration’s record in infrastructure, health, education, human capital development and social welfare.
Vice-President Shettima also urged voters in the North to support Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing the president’s previous support for northern political leaders, including former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The campaign flag-off marks the beginning of the APC’s mobilisation efforts for the 2027 presidential election, with party leaders urging members to strengthen unity and engage voters across the country.
