Gatekeepers News reports that University of Ibadan is the first University in Nigeria. Until 1962 when it became a full-fledged independent University, it was a College of the University of London in a special relationship scheme.
The University, which took off with academic programmes in Arts, Science and Medicine, is now a comprehensive citadel of learning with academic programmes in thirteen Faculties namely, Arts, Science, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Agriculture and Forestry, the Social Sciences, Education, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Technology, Law, Public Health and Dentistry.

Job Description:
- The importance of security of lives and property in the attainment of the goals and emphasized. The Chief Security Officer, therefore, plays a key role in the overall achievement of the Vision and Mission of the University of Ibadan.
- He is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for security of the campus. University Administration with regular security briefs, information and advice for appropriate use.
- Applicants for this position must be those with clear vision, proven track records and professional ability and distinction in either private or govemment establishments.
- In addition, they must have a clear knowledge of the structure and terrain of the University of Ibadan Campus.
- The applicants should have exemplary leadership qualities capable of engendering the trust of the University Administration, loyalty of staff and cooperation of the various publics he will interact with. Applicants must also be confident and proactive.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- The candidate must be a graduate of a (specialty in Psychology or Criminology will be an advantage) with 18 years cognate experience in security-related jobs, four (4) of which must have been in may be an Ex-Superior Police Officer, not below the rank of a Chief Superintendent of Police or its equivalent from the Armed Forces.

- CONTISS 13 (N3,776,157 – N5,032,176)

- As applicable in Federal Universities and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the University from time to time.
