Gas Explosion Damages 6 Vehicles In Katsina

Gas cylinders conveyed in a truck on Friday, exploded at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State, damaging about six vehicles.

Gatekeepers News reports that police spokesman in the state, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu revealed this through a statement released in Katsina.

Sadiq-Aliyu said police operatives attached to Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters heard a loud explosion, prompting a team led by DPO in collaboration with military to attend the scene.

He added, “Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station, along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia road.”

“The joint team swiftly deployed preventive measures to protect lives and minimise property damage, successfully quenching the fire.”

“Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no life was lost.”

The spokesman said the state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

Sadiq-Aliyu noted that further developments will be communicated as investigation proceeds.
