A prayer session was held to honour the memory of the late Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, daughter of the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, along with her three children and a housemaid.
Gatekeepers News reports that the gathering marked the conclusion of a three-day mourning period, traditionally observed for receiving condolences.
The special prayer, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Abubakar Bawa, the Press Secretary to Sokoto state Governor, took place at the Sheikh Usman bin Fodiyo Jumuat Mosque in Sifawa and was led by several prominent Imams, including Haliru Muhammad Umar, Yahuza Shehu Tambuwal, Muhammad Dan Gande, Abubakar Isa Binji, and Professor Attahiru Ahmad Sifawa. The prayers focused on seeking Allah’s forgiveness for the departed souls.
Notable attendees included the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Idris Muhammed Gobir; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga; state APC Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida; Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Saidu Sifawa; Chief of Staff to the Government House, Sokoto, Aminu Haliru Dikko; Police Commissioner, Ahmed Musa; Amb. Sahabi Isa Gada, as well as lawmakers, commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, religious leaders, civil servants, and business figures.
Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, along with her children—Fatimatu Bello Yusuf, Maryam Bello Yusuf, Abubakar Sadik Bello Yusuf—and housemaid Aishatu Muhammad lost their lives in a tragic fire outbreak that occurred last Monday morning.
