Troops of Nigerian Army have killed at least 50 terrorists and captured Tungan Fulani Hills, a notorious stronghold in Zamfara state.

Gatekeepers News reports that Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region disclosed this.

The publication said that the operation, codenamed Fansar Yan Bindiga, led to a fierce battle, where at least 25 other terrorists were injured, including top commanders loyal to Bello Turji and Sani Black.

Kachallah Sanni Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta, Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru, Dan-Gajere (son of Audu Jabbi), and Bako Malaika, who operates around Tungan Dan Musa were among the terrorists killed.

Zagazola Makama said the capture of Tungan Fulani Hills marks the first time in years that troops have been able to penetrate and dominate the area, which had long served as a terrorist stronghold in Zurmi-Shinkafi axis.

The publication said five previous attempts by troops to access the valley had failed due to stiff terrorist resistance, resulting in casualties and damage to military equipment.

It added, “By taking control of the hills, the military has disrupted their supply chain and cut off their escape routes to neighbouring forests.”

The report noted that security forces urge locals to report suspicious activity and avoid aiding fleeing bandits.
