Diri Suspends Bayelsa Monarch Over Sons' Involvement In Cult Activities
Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri has suspended Wilcox Job, the paramount ruler of the Swali community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.

Gatekeepers News reports that the decision was announced in a joint statement on Wednesday by Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai and Thompson Amule, who serve as the commissioners for information, orientation and strategy, and chieftaincy affairs, respectively. The suspension is effective immediately.

The commissioners explained that the action was taken due to allegations involving the ruler’s sons and their connections to cultism.

“This is due to the traditional ruler’s inability to show leadership expected of his position in the fight against crime and cultism amidst credible intelligence that two of his sons are involved in cult activities in the community,” the statement reads.

“The commissioner of police has been directed to declare the two royal sons and all those involved in cultism in Swali wanted.”

The commissioners added that all individuals involved in cultism will be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted.
