Edo state government under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo has mobilised road contractors to commence work across the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu who disclosed this during a briefing in Benin City.
Ohonbamu noted that the administration has mobilised all contractors handling road projects approved for construction and rehabilitation across the state with the mandatory twenty-five percent mobilization.
According to him, Governor Okpebholo is working around the clock to ensure the successful implementation of approved projects.
He added, “Whatever the Governor says, he makes sure it is well implemented. In the area of disaster management, public security, infrastructure, Education and human capital development across the eighteen local governments, the Governor has made indelible impacts.”
The commissioner further revealed that the State Executive Council, at a recent meeting, approved the renovation and remodeling of 16 secondary schools across the three senatorial districts. Schools slated for upgrade include Edo College, Evbareke Secondary School, St. David Mixed Model School (Evboneka), and St. Maria Goretti Secondary School, among others.
He added that all is set for the launch of the new Edo Line Transport service, scheduled for June 27, 2025. Terminals in cities including Port Harcourt, Warri, Lagos, Abuja, and Calabar are now fully ready.
Additionally, the disbursement of the N1 billion support fund promised by Governor Okpebholo to farmers, traders, and market women during the International Women’s Day celebration has begun.
The commissioner noted that some of the newly trained members of the Edo State Security Corps have been deployed, while others continue their training at the NYSC Camp in Okada.
He reiterated the Governor’s commitment to ensuring Edo people get the dividends of democracy.
