Jude Ezenwafor, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra election, was shot by unidentified gunmen in Abuja on Friday night.
Gatekeepers News reports that the attack reportedly occurred in Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory while Ezenwafor was on his way home from an engagement.
The politician is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in the city, though the name of the facility has not been disclosed.
Ezenwafor said on Saturday, “I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body.”
As of the time of this report, PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba had not responded to inquiries about the incident.
Ezenwafor, a former presidential aspirant under the Labour Party (LP), recently returned to the PDP and was confirmed as the party’s flagbearer for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
