Arsenal have finalised and agreement with Sporting CP to sign Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres for £64 million.
Gatekeepers News reports that this was confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a post on his official X account.
He wrote, “ BREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.”
“Sporting accept last bid from Arsenal for €63.5m plus €10m, agent will reduce his commission.”
“Gyökeres will sign five year deal at #AFC. He ONLY wanted Arsenal.”
The 26 year old footballer had a standout season with Sporting CP in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, scoring over 40 goals across all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign.
Gyokeres reportedly made Arsenal his top choice this summer, preferring the North London club over interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Swedish striker is expected to provide a boost to Arsenal’s frontline, which struggled with consistency last season.
According to reports, Gyokeres has already agreed personal terms with the North London club, and final medicals and contract signings are expected to follow shortly. The deal also includes add-ons that could push the total fee beyond the initial £64 million.
This transfer would make Gyokeres Arsenal’s sixth major signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Mosqeura.
