Everton Celebrate New Stadium With Win Over Brighton

Everton marked the opening of their new Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports that Iliman Ndiaye opened the scoring in the first half with the first-ever goal at the new ground, before James Garner sealed the win after the break.

Both goals came from assists by Jack Grealish, who was impressed with his full debut for the Toffees.

Brighton created plenty of chances but failed to take them. Kaoru Mitoma hit the bar, Jan Paul van Hecke struck the post, and Danny Welbeck missed a penalty late in the game as Jordan Pickford made a crucial save.

The result gave Everton a positive start in their new home after years of struggle at Goodison Park, where they often battled relegation.

Manager David Moyes hopes to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes, but the performance offered encouragement for the future.

Meanwhile, at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw. Ismaila Sarr gave Palace the lead, but Callum Hudson-Odoi equalised for Forest to share the points.
