President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday returned to Abuja after a ten-day working visit to Lagos, the nation’s commercial capital.

Gatekeepers Newreports that his return was announced in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the visit featured high-level engagements with investors and key stakeholders in the maritime and creative sectors.

Tinubu had travelled to Lagos on Friday, shortly after attending the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, in Ibadan.

While in Lagos, the President met with prominent investors including Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Keem Belo-Osagie, Chairman of Metis Capital Partners and former Chairman of United Bank for Africa and Etisalat.

He also received Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), alongside the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and other maritime agency heads. During the meeting, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to “developing Nigeria’s maritime industry as a viable alternative to fossil energy.”

Ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the President travelled to Imo State to commission projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma and to unveil the governor’s new book chronicling a decade of APC governance in the country.

Tinubu later delivered his Independence Day national broadcast from the State House, Dodan Barracks, and commissioned the newly renovated National Theatre, renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts. He urged Nigerians to “speak positively about their country” and work together for national renewal.

On Saturday, October 4, President Tinubu attended the burial of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State.

At the funeral, Tinubu paid tribute to the late matriarch and assured Christian communities in Northern Nigeria of his government’s “unwavering commitment to fairness and equity among all religious groups.”
