Soldiers Arrest Wanted Kidnap Suspect In Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested a wanted kidnapping suspect in Wukari, Taraba State.

Gatekeepers News reports that the arrest was made on November 22 during Operation Zafin Wuta, according to a statement released on Sunday by Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Umar Muhammad.

The suspect, Umar Musa Geyi, was arrested in Jandei-Kulamu following credible intelligence from security operatives. The army said he has been on their watchlist for his alleged role in multiple abductions carried out by a criminal network operating in the area.

Early findings also link him to the November 13 kidnapping of a Fulani resident, Alhaji Jano, who is still being held by the gang.

Troops reportedly caught Geyi while he was on the phone confirming that the victim remained in captivity and demanding a ransom of N20 million. He is now in military custody, and efforts are underway to locate the abducted man and secure his release.

Brigadier General Kingsley C. Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, applauded the soldiers for the successful operation.

He reiterated the Brigade’s determination to break up kidnapping rings in the state and encouraged residents to stay alert and continue sharing useful information with security agencies.
