Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, for questioning.
Gatekeepers News reports that the former AGF confirmed the development in a post on Facebook, noting that he plans to comply with the invitation, stressing that doing so aligns with his long-held views on transparency and responsibility in public office.
He wrote, “I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.”
“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service — the principles that I both advocate and champion.”
He also assured the public that he will provide updates as events progress, emphasizing that he remains dedicated to openness on matters of public trust.
The development follows a series of incidents involving Malami in recent months. On September 1, his convoy was attacked by suspected political thugs in Birnin Kebbi.
Days later, on September 10, he petitioned top security agencies, alleging a plot to destabilise Kebbi State through the influx of hired thugs. He was subsequently invited by the DSS on September 22 regarding the attack.
Malami later declared his intention on November 17 to run for the 2027 governorship election in the state. He had earlier left the APC for the African Democratic Congress in July.
