Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday announced new leadership for four key Senate committees.

Gatekeepers News reports that Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South, was named chairman of the Committee on Livestock and Animal Husbandry. Senator Abdullahi Yahaya of Kebbi North now heads the Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West, has been appointed acting chairman of the Air Force Committee. And Senator Musa Mustapha from Yobe East will lead the Committee on National Planning.

The shake-up follows last week’s dissolution of the former leadership of National Security and Intelligence and Air Force committees, a decision prompted by dissatisfaction over their oversight performance amid Nigeria’s escalating insecurity.
