President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Saturday after taking part in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Tinubu attended the summit with members of his cabinet.
During the event, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates entered into a comprehensive economic partnership agreement aimed at strengthening economic ties between both countries.
The agreement is expected to boost trade and investment, promote technology transfer, and widen cooperation in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy.
The president also announced plans to host a joint Nigeria–UAE INVESTOPIA meeting in Lagos in February as part of efforts to attract global investors.
He further disclosed Nigeria’s intention to mobilise up to 30 billion dollars yearly in climate and green industrial financing to support energy transition reforms and expand electricity access across the country.
Tinubu had left Lagos on December 28, 2025, for Europe for his end-of-year holiday before proceeding to the United Arab Emirates to attend the sustainability summit.
