President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attributed All Progressives Congress’ (APC) strong showing in Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections to the remarkable achievements of Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT, saying his performance delivered clear political gains for the ruling party.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Tinubu congratulated winners of the polls conducted in the FCT, Kano State, and Rivers State, describing the outcome as a boost for Nigeria’s democratic process.

“President Bola Tinubu congratulates the winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory and the states of Kano and Rivers,” the statement read.

INEC conducted elections across the six area councils in the FCT, alongside by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano.

Tinubu urged those declared winners to see their victory as a call to selfless service, saying, “The President urges the winners to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication and to view the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust.”

He also extended his congratulations to the APC national leadership, the party’s structures in Kano and Rivers, and members of the party for their collective efforts and electoral success.

Commending Wike, Tinubu said, “He commends the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).”

The president further applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, and voters for ensuring a peaceful and credible process. “President Tinubu lauds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections,” the statement added.

He also praised the conduct of the contestants, noting that, “democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition.”

Tinubu said the orderly conduct of the elections strengthens Nigeria’s democratic institutions and culture, calling on INEC to continue improving its operations to deliver “even more exemplary electoral processes.”
