A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Igbosere, Lagos State, has adjourned the trial of the driver of British-Nigerian boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, to March 17, 2026.
Gatekeepers News reports that the defendant, identified as the professional boxer’s personal driver, is standing trial over alleged reckless driving and traffic violations following a road incident in Lagos.
At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, the prosecution informed the court that it was not fully ready to proceed due to the absence of a key witness required to give testimony. The prosecutor therefore requested an adjournment to enable the state to properly prepare its case.
Defence counsel did not oppose the request but urged the court to ensure an expeditious trial, stressing the importance of timely justice.
The presiding magistrate subsequently granted the application and adjourned the matter to March 17 for continuation of the hearing.
The case stems from an alleged traffic-related offence involving the defendant, which reportedly led to his arrest by law enforcement officials. Further proceedings are expected to determine the culpability or otherwise of the accused.
The court advised all parties to be ready to proceed on the next adjourned date.
