President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promoted Ibrahim Kabiru Masari from his previous role as Senior Special Assistant to now serve as Special Adviser on Political Affairs at the State House.

Gatekeepers News reports that the promotion was made public on Thursday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President.

According to the release, Masari is a long‑time political ally of the president and has been deeply involved in political strategy within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Tinubu initially appointed Masari in 2023 as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs. Before his role at the presidency, Masari was the welfare secretary of the APC during Adams Oshiomhole’s tenure as national chairman, a position that underscored his influence within party structures and in grassroots mobilisation.

Masari hails from Katsina State in northern Nigeria and is widely recognised in political circles as a seasoned organiser with strong connections across the northern geopolitical zone. His work has often centred on party coordination, outreach to stakeholders, and political strategy, skills that appear to have earned the confidence of the presidency.

With his elevation to Special Adviser, Masari is expected to play an expanded role in shaping political engagement and strategy for the Tinubu administration, particularly as the country approaches key electoral events.

In his new capacity, he will work closely with Yau Darazo, another presidential appointee charged with political affairs who has served since July 2023.
