Fire Razes Section Of Federal Secretariat In Abuja

A fire outbreak on Monday morning caused panic at the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja after flames engulfed part of a building housing the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Gatekeepers News reports that the incident occurred at Section C of the Federal Secretariat complex, where a section of the Head of Service’s office caught fire.

Eyewitnesses said the blaze was first noticed at about 8:20 a.m., with thick black smoke seen rising from the affected area of the building.

Civil servants and visitors within the complex reportedly evacuated the building immediately as emergency responders were alerted to the situation.

Videos circulating on social media showed smoke billowing from the structure while firefighters worked to contain the flames.

Officials from the Office of the Head of Service confirmed the incident and stated that the fire was restricted to Section C of the building.

Emergency personnel were already at the scene battling the blaze and trying to prevent it from spreading to other offices within the secretariat complex.

Authorities said the cause of the fire had not been determined as of the time the report was filed. There were also no immediate reports of casualties or injuries, although investigations are expected to begin after the fire is fully extinguished.
