Nyesom Wike has assured that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration will provide the necessary infrastructure in the newly opened Waru-Pozema District, enabling residents and developers to commence construction and development.
Gatekeepers News reports that Wike made the remarks on Thursday after inspecting several ongoing projects across the FCT. He said the administration would work closely with relevant agencies to determine how basic infrastructure could be delivered in the district, located in Cadastral Zone D16.
“On the new district of Waru-Pozema in Cadastral Zone D16, we have to find out from the FCDA or the coordinator what they have in mind and whether it is captured in the 2026 budget,” Wike said. He assured that the administration would do everything possible to facilitate development in the area.
Judicial Infrastructure Progress
The minister also expressed satisfaction with the progress of several judicial infrastructure projects inspected during the tour. He disclosed that the contractor handling the Court of Appeal complex had promised completion by May 2026, with judges’ quarters, including those for the Federal High Court, already furnished.
According to Wike, the project includes 10 duplexes for the Federal High Court, 20 duplexes for the FCT High Court, and 10 duplexes for the Court of Appeal. The facilities are expected to be inaugurated during the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in office.
Road Projects and Project Supervision
Wike also inspected a major road project in Katampe, describing it as functioning like a ring road. He commended the contractor, China Geo-Engineering Corporation, for the pace and quality of work, praising the level of supervision by the FCT Administration.
“It is one of those companies that when they give you their word, you can go to the bank with it,” Wike said.
He explained that his commitment to frequent site inspections is driven by the confidence placed in him by President Tinubu. “For the President to have confidence in you and give you an assignment, you have no choice but to be committed to the job,” he said.
Call for PDP Unity
On national politics, Wike called for unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that reconciliation within the party must precede discussions about future electoral strategies.
