Oluremi Tinubu Calls For World Ruled By Compassion At Lambeth Palace

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday addressed a gathering at Lambeth Palace in central London, calling for a world guided by compassion and love.

Gatekeepers Newreports that according to a statement issued by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady attended a church service at the palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, where she was received by the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion Worldwide, Anthony Poggo.

In a short reflection, Mrs Tinubu said addressing the complex challenges facing the world today requires more than policies and strategies.

She noted that meaningful progress must also be driven by actions shaped by love and compassion.

During the visit, the First Lady interacted with religious leaders and representatives of the Church of England, including Rose Hudson-Wilkin, the Bishop of Dover, and Emma Ineson, the acting Bishop of London.

The statement added that she led a special prayer for members of the royal family and leaders across the world.

After touring sections of the palace, Mrs Tinubu also met with colleagues from the Anglican Communion Office and the Anglican Alliance, which serves 42 Anglican churches worldwide, and signed the visitors’ register.

The event formed part of activities surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

Earlier on Wednesday, the First Lady and the president met with King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and were received by the heir to the British throne, Prince William, and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, who accompanied them to Windsor.

King Charles III later hosted the Nigerian delegation to a state banquet at Windsor Castle.
